SUPPORT FROM CATHARINE WEGNER

Catharine Wegner, a 1934 University of Iowa graduate with a major in Mathematics, and a long-time teacher of Mathematics, has made a wonderfully generous donation to the Department of Mathematics in support of a large number of the activities of the department.  Included in these activities is our yearly High School Mathematics Tournament.  Because of Ms. Wegner’s support, we are pleased to announce that starting with the March 6, 1999 Third Annual High School Mathematics Tournament at the University of Iowa, and continuing in perpetuity, a prize of one hundred dollars from the Department of Mathematics will be awarded to the winners of the Sprint Round and the Target Round, in each of the large school and small school classifications.
