The Calculus Wiz

Software for first year calculus available from Wolfram Media

What's the Wiz?

Calculus Wiz is a package of Mathematica notebooks that can help you solve most of the problems of the traditional first-year calculus course. You solve calculus problems simply by clicking a computer button and filling in information. Usually these steps then give you the solutions to the textbook problems plus information beyond the textbook. This is possible because Mathematica has changed the kind of mathematics that computers can do.

No computer experience is needed - Mathematica syntax for derivatives and integrals is almost the same as textbook notation. Moreover, there are input palettes and buttons that bring up solver dialog boxes.

Covers the same topics as traditional calculus texts with interactive solutions of standard examples.

Calculus Wiz is organized in chapters and sections that follow the outline of your regular calculus text. Chapters and sections are easily accessible from Mathematica’s Help Browser and built-in hyperlinks throughout the Wiz. Although Calculus Wiz is a complete reference to calculus, much like your calculus textbook, it is mainly designed to assist you with your homework from your regular calculus class.

Solves most traditional homework problems with buttons.

The best way to use Calculus Wiz is to electronically search for the topic you are interested in, read through the explanation in the Help Browser, and then use Calculus Wiz Solvers to do problems on your topic. (You can also see all the details of a solution by using the Calculus Wiz Template buttons.)

Every Calculus Wiz Solver has a row of buttons that will give you different kinds of help.

There is additional help on using Calculus Wiz solvers in the printed manual that accompanies this software.
